This is the unofficial Cypriot Armenians (Gibrahayer) web page. The aim of the site is to collect/distribute information about the Cypriot Armenians, its history and culture.
Armenians have lived in Cyprus for centuries, but the present community on the island is mainly the result of immigration during and immediately after the Armenian Genocide of 1915-23 in Turkey. Currently, some 2750 Armenians live in Cyprus, mainly in Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. According to recent un-official estimates, the population has increased to 3250-3500 mainly due to the exodus of Armenians from Armenia.
