In a modest ceremony on Monday night, 7 December 2009, the English and Greek editions of the books "The Armenians of Cyprus" were presented to the general public.
These unique books were written by researcher-scholar Alexander-Michael Hadjilyra, and were published with the kind donation of the Kalaydjian Foundation. In the presence of about 70 people, including former Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, Benon Sevan, the Chairman of the Kalaydjian Foundation, Tigran Kalaydjian, briefly spoke about the publication and the distribution of the book, while Strovolos Mayor praised the publication.
The author spoke about the tumultuous history of the Armenian-Cypriots and explained his love and interest for them; he proudly declared "Hay chem, payts hayaser em!!!". The ceremony was concluded by the praises of the Archbishop for the author and the Foundation, and the blessing of the book with wine (kinetson).
